The Aspen Tree is bringing global standards to Thai eldercare with the Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) with the launch of training and certification for elderly caregiving in Thailand based on new person-centered models.

The Aspen Tree, a specialist in communities and services for older adults in Thailand, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) to train caregivers for older adults in Thailand to global standards.

Signed at The Forestias, where The Aspen Tree’s first community is under construction in a 243-rai green neighborhood, the MoU will launch a caregiver training program licensed by the Department of Health and guided by Baycrest, a globally renowned Canadian eldercare specialist.

The Forestias is the first urban project designed to provide happy, healthy, sustainable living in all dimensions. Set amid flourishing ecosystems, the project’s facilities and its wide choice of residences will suit the lifestyles of all generations and every type of family.

The Aspen Tree at The Forestias is a holistic community for older adults, combining its residences with specialized medical facilities to ensure the physical and mental well-being of its residents.

Mr. Visit Malaisirirat, CEO of MQDC, the property developer and parent of The Aspen Tree, said the MoU addresses the needs of Thailand’s rapidly aging population and will help the eldercare sector grow sustainably.

“Thailand’s caregivers for older adults have, until now, lacked real opportunities to develop their expertise and grow in their profession according to the finest overseas models,” he said.

“With input from Baycrest, a globally renowned eldercare center in Canada, the new course will bring person-centered best practice to Thailand. The program will build skills and professional pride so older adults can enjoy the most beautiful chapter in life at The Aspen Tree, ‘A Community for Healthy Living and Lifetime Care’.”

The Aspen Tree is collaborating on its launch community at The Forestias with Baycrest, which has cared for older adults in Toronto for over 100 years. The Aspen Tree The  Forestias will combine luxury residences with full-spectrum programs, support, and care.

Mr. Siam Choksawangwong, Vice President for Special Affairs, Office of President of PIM, said: “Panyapiwat Institute of Management, or PIM, is a higher education institution as a corporate university that aims to develop high-quality professional graduates who are ready to work straight after graduation as human resources that meet the needs of society and the country. This is a great opportunity for mutually beneficial cooperation in education, operational training, and sharing knowledge. In the current changing social context, PIM continues to develop new courses. It is therefore preparing and researching to expand the School of Health Sciences curriculum, integrating both academic and operational sectors to enhance teaching and learning, research, innovation, and human resource development that is effective for both parties.”

The Aspen Tree and Baycrest Global Solutions, the Baycrest Centre’s international subsidiary, designed the course on evidence-based principles developed by the Canadian center. Affiliated with the University of Toronto, Baycrest uniquely combines its research with providing care and support for 1,500 older adults.

Caregivers who graduate from the course will be familiar the latest person-centered approaches in eldercare, giving older adults control over their lives and treatment.

Ms. Hye June Park, President of The Aspen Tree, said the course would provide assurance for residents at the new community and ensure its success.

“Older adults today want to live happily, healthily, and independently in the most beautiful chapter in life, which requires full-spectrum support,” she said.

“Together with PIM we can now give the assurance of informed, capable staff, certified to provide impeccable, personalized service that lets residents benefit from the very latest knowledge and live fulfilling lives exactly as they choose.”

Known for its commitment to ‘For All Well-Being’, to benefit all life, MQDC set up The Aspen Tree in 2018 as a specialist in communities and services for older adults.
