AP (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd., a leading developer of residential properties and innovations, is building on its ‘AP World’ vision which focuses on building a world of good quality of life by drawing a new blueprint for cities with an ideal eco system.  In a recent development, the company unveiled its ‘Project Grow’ initiative, a philosophy behind its master plan for sustainable good quality of life – something to be achieved through a design that provides good physical and mental wellness, green area development, environment conservation and sharing maximum benefit with surrounding society.  The company is piloting an initiative to develop green urban areas by saving old trees of more than 50 years on the site, where Rhythm Ekkamai Estate is built, to fulfill the quality of life for urban community and society because trees are living history representing good memories and bonds with community members.  It is also working with BIG Trees Project and the Thailand Urban Tree Network to keep sparking public awareness and sharing knowledge on tree care with the young generation in ‘AP Grow Day’ event to be held on 30 March at Suan Rot Fai Park.

Mr. Vittakarn Chandavimol, Chief Corporate Strategy and Creation, AP (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd., said that “Trees that are efficient in producing oxygen, reducing the temperature and cleaning the air have a broad canopy and small fine leaves.  Therefore, it is no surprise that rain trees are rated the most environmentally friendly.  However, it is still a challenge to save three historic tress on the plot where Rhythm Ekkamai Estate is built, because the company has to move the big trees while allocating the space inside the project to make the best use of it.  The process has to be done right to ensure that all of the trees survive and continue to grow for a long period of time.

“Based on ‘AP World’ vision to build a world of good quality of life through a blueprint for good quality of life of tomorrow with an ideal eco system, what AP is doing in its core real estate business continues to have very much to do with urban development and quality of life of residents.  Because of this, the company cannot focus solely on construction design.  Project Grow is a philosophy AP will use to create a master plan for quality living together with a design of areas inside a project, a focus on how to increase urban greenery, playing a part in the conservation of the environment as well as building a society where public awareness is the norm.  It starts with the closest matter.  For AP, it starts with saving big trees together with going about other details in the development of a project.  As for Rhythm Ekkamai Estate, a pilot project under the Project Grow initiative – the philosophy behind the master plan for sustainable good quality of life, AP has a strong intention to keep the three big rain trees with the Ekkamai community for as long as possible while looking to allocate every square inch inside the project to make the best use of the space.  So, the company has decided to relocate the trees, each is around 20 metres tall – an equivalent to a 8-story building.  Khun Taradon Tunduan or Kru Tor, an expert arborist specializing in taking care of big trees in urban landscape will be advisor in charge ensuring that the relocation is a success and the trees will continue to grow.” Mr. Vittakarn concluded.

“On the outside, the trees look healthy.  But when the arborist team dug down, they found a problem with their roots which are stuck under concrete slabs.  So the team has to solve the roots problem first before the relocation can start.  One tree is tilting.  They have to straighten it up first so as not to affect the building in the future.  The expertise and professionalism of all concerned will ensure that the intention to build a world of good quality of life for urban communities under the main vision of AP World will be a reality soon,” said Mr. Vittakarn.

In a recent development, AP Thailand is preparing to advance the initiative by holding ‘AP Grow Day’ event to broaden public awareness on tree conservation and the environment.  The company hopes to bring people and trees closer by working with the public sector, BIG Trees Project, and Thailand Urban Tree Network to expand the tree conservation front through  a wide range of activities.  These include a mission to revive and return green areas to urban communities with the help of ‘Patty – Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha’ stars and celebrities of the new generation.  For the first time ever, members of the public will be able to study nature at the height of over 25 metres as they participate in a tree climbing under the shade of giant rain trees of over 50 years old and a zip line adventure through a 50-metre line of big trees.  Professional arborists will be on hand to share knowledge on trees as well as give trees a health check-up.  The event will end with music in the garden by Boy Trai Bhumiratna and visitors will be given a special sapling to take homeAP Grow Day will be held on 30 March 2019 from 12.00 – 18.00 at Suan Rot Fai Park, Bangkok.  Interested members of the public can register now at www.APprojectgrow.com (limited admissions).
