SIAM Takashimaya, the only authentic Japanese department store in Thailand located at ICONSIAM, steps into its seventh year of success with heartfelt appreciation, marking the special occasion with the return of the much-anticipated “THE WAGASHI Japanese Foods, Crafts & IKEBANA” under the concept “Arigato – Thank You.” The event features an extensive lineup of traditional Japanese confectionery booths imported from all over Japan, reaffirming gratitude to customers through exclusive creations crafted by seven renowned chefs from seven distinguished Wagashi shops flown in directly from Japan. To mark the seventh year in business, these special menus are offered exclusively during the event, including a new Premium Matcha Zone dedicated to matcha lovers, showcasing premium matcha sourced from top tea-growing regions across Japan. Visitors can also participate in a variety of creative workshops and shop unique rare craft items, along with exclusive storewide promotions of up to 50% as a token of appreciation.
A highlight of the event includes the appearance of M.L. Parson Svasti, a prominent food expert, gourmet, writer, and judge on national-level culinary reality shows, who shares his passion and appreciation for the charm of traditional Japanese Wagashi, as well as his insights into Japan’s refined culinary culture, offering knowledge and tips for all attendees.
The vibrant atmosphere continues with an immersive experience of traditional Japanese confectionery booths, bringing together famous Wagashi shops from various prefectures across Japan for visitors to enjoy amidst the warm cultural ambiance. The event runs until 30 November 2025 on the G Floor and the 4th Floor of SIAM Takashimaya at ICONSIAM. Adding to the exquisite experience, guests can indulge in authentic Wagashi—registered as an intangible cultural heritage of Japan—crafted by seven master chefs: Hiromori Uchida from “Ganyudo,” Shizuoka; Noboru Iwasa from “Shirohe Roho,” Shiga; Yoshitaro Hanai from “Kameya Yoshihiro,” Aichi; Yasuhiro Hikiami from “Hikiami Kogetsudo,” Toyama; Tomokazu Tsunaka from “Aoyagi Seike,” Tokyo; Nobuharu Okamoto from “Yumegashi Kobo Kotoyo,” Mie; and Masaaki Miyake from “Beniya Miyake,” Tochigi.
A new Premium Matcha Zone also awaits, featuring “Premium Matcha” from Chaho, a renowned tea house from Matsue with more than 140 years of history and known as one of the origins of Japanese tea ceremony culture. The matcha is carefully sourced from Japan’s leading tea-growing regions, including Uji, Shizuoka, and Nagoya. Visitors can also enjoy the popular “Matcha Mont Blanc” from Chacha Kobo Futatsume, a beloved sweet shop from Asakusa using organic matcha from Shizuoka and premium chestnuts from Kasama, Ibaraki, as well as “Premium Matcha with Wagashi Pairing” from Ryumondo Tea Experience En, a 108-year-old establishment from Hamamatsu, Shizuoka.
A wide selection of workshops is available throughout the event, including tea ceremony sessions by Tea Master Hisao Nakamura from Chaho, covering tea history, brewing techniques, and the appreciation of authentic matcha. Additional workshops include the creation of the adorable “Seal Pup Wagashi Floating in Jelly Sea” by Masaaki Miyake, known for his contemporary Nerikiri artistry at Beniya Miyake, and a hand-brewing coffee workshop by Bom Kritanay Kongtanarak, Thailand Brewers Cup Champion 2024, who will pair his brewing techniques with exquisite Wagashi from UCC. Visitors can also explore a wide range of Craft Rare Items in unique designs, such as organic cotton clothing by Ban Rom Sai; premium leather goods by Gamuu; a delicate Japanese-style Kintsugi repair workshop by Kintsugi Link; and a special Benjarong painting workshop by Thai Isekyu, available from 19 to 30 November 2025 on the 4th Floor.
