Celebrating over 30 years of excellence, dwp | design worldwide partnership, a global architectural and design consultancy with a distinguished presence in Thailand and internationally, continues to lead the way in innovative design solutions. Throughout its history, dwp has been the driving force behind numerous successful projects, playing a pivotal role in shaping the creative and economic landscape with unwavering stability.

Recently, dwp hosted the dwp Awards and Recognition Celebration 2025, an event to honour and celebrate the 19 international awards secured over the past year (2024). The event also served as a platform to share insights into emerging trends within architecture and design, showcasing how technology and innovation, particularly AI, are set to revolutionise the industry.

Ms. Sarinrath Kamolratanapiboon, Executive Director of dwp, highlighted the past year’s accomplishments amidst a challenging global economic environment. She noted that the design landscape in 2024 focused on integrating innovation, sustainability, and tailored solutions to meet diverse client needs. “Designers are no longer tasked merely with creating unique spaces; there is now an emphasis on addressing individual and community requirements through creative solutions. Whether through biophilic elements, cutting-edge technology, or the bold expressions of maximalism, our designs stand out for their ingenuity and alignment with sustainability,” Ms. Kamolratanapiboon stated.

She further elaborated on the recognition received by key projects, including the Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong, which received 8 awards, L’Oréal Thailand Office, which received 8 awards, BDMS Connect Center, which received 7 awards, and Supalai Icon Sathorn, which received 8 awards, collectively earning multiple international accolades. These achievements, she explained, stem from dwp’s ability to balance creativity, functionality, and innovation, meeting the high standards sought by judging panels across various institutions.

Mr. Robert Troup, Managing Director, shed light on the trends shaping 2025, emphasizing the fusion of technology, sustainability, and human-centric design as key drivers for the future. He explained that neurodesign and well-being are becoming central to creating environments that promote mental health, enhance productivity, and evoke positive emotions. Additionally, sensory environments are gaining prominence, as spaces designed to engage multiple senses—touch, sight, hearing, and smell—deliver memorable and immersive experiences. Adaptive and flexible spaces are also crucial, emphasizing multifunctional architectural solutions that accommodate evolving lifestyles and changing demands. “These trends align seamlessly with dwp’s approach for 2025, which prioritizes sustainability, bespoke solutions, and technology integration,” said Mr. Troup.

“We are committed to crafting not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and environmentally responsible spaces, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for occupants.”

Innovation remains at the forefront of dwp’s strategy, as highlighted by Mr. Danny Bentley, BIM Manager and Design Director. He emphasized the company’s leadership in adopting AI-driven processes, making dwp one of the first companies in Thailand to embrace this technology comprehensively. “Our projects now feature a 50-50 blend of innovative concepts and cutting-edge technology,” he remarked. This approach is exemplified through initiatives such as smart homes and buildings that incorporate IoT devices to control lighting, temperature, and security systems, creating intelligent living environments. Virtual and augmented reality also play a significant role in enhancing design planning and visualization, allowing clients to actively participate in the design process before construction begins.

Furthermore, AI-optimized spaces utilize artificial intelligence to design efficient layouts and predict user needs, while smart design features, including automated lighting, climate control, and interactive displays, enhance both usability and sustainability.

Looking ahead, dwp has set strategic plans to achieve over 20% growth in 2025 through several key initiatives. The company aims to leverage virtual design processes, incorporating VR, AR, and AI to streamline collaboration, reduce resource consumption, and shorten project timelines. Strategic alliances with regional firms and suppliers will ensure credibility and sustainable sourcing. Additionally, upskilling the workforce remains a priority, with training programs focused on sustainable design practices, advanced software tools, and cultural competence to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
