One.Six Development and End of Waste Install Thailand’s First Residence Food Digester at The Strand to Reduce Environmental Issues from Neighborhood Leftovers
One.Six Development has teamed up with “End of waste co.ltd.” to install a food digester at The Strand, an ultra-luxury mixed-use project on Soi Thonglor, to break down the neighborhood’s leftovers overnight, introducing a new solution to Bangkok’s environmental and health challenges from food waste.
In tune with One.Six Development’s eco-friendly and socially responsible ethos, The Strand will host a food waste digester with a daily capacity of 300 kg, serving not only the mixed-use project’s own cafés and restaurants but also nearby eateries, boosting the local community’s quality of life.
Ms. Tanyatip Chearavanont, CEO of One.Six Development, said:
“One.Six Development is delighted to launch this food waste scheme with End of waste co.ltd. on 11 November 2021 at The Strand to support tenants, residents, and the neighborhood. We will turn leftovers into liquid for waste treatment for 12 months, debuting a safe, efficient, ecofriendly new disposal method. This initiative will reduce food waste and carbon emissions from waste haulage as well as vermin and the risk of infection from unhygienic environments.”
The fully automated digester uses microbes to convert food waste such as rice, noodles, vegetables, and even meat with bones into liquid in only 24 hours.
