Although mankind discovered and has known how to apply energy to ensure survival for centuries, it was only in the 20^th century that men started to rely on energy in almost all activities. The advancement in electric technology and power transmission lines have become the 5th basic need for modern day life. However, power production and distribution are centralized, resulting in high costs for household electricity production and consuming a lot of resources in its generation. All of this is slowly changing thanks to new cutting-edge technology, which allows us to generate, store and use electricity in our homes stably and securely. It is indeed energy independence at its best.

Another good news is that recently, Solar D has partnered with and welcomed Mr. Santi Srichawla as its new board member. Mr. Santi, managing and business development director of Solar D, recognizes the company’s potential and strongly supports the vision of Solar D in pushing ahead with the concept of energy independence among the Thai people. Mr. Santi added that other investors and leading corporations in Thailand are also interested in being part of the new technology, namely Boon Rawd Brewery Trading Co., Ltd., Plan B Media Public Co., Ltd., K.C.E. International Co., Ltd. and Thai O.P.P. Public Co., Ltd. These partners see the potential of renewable energy and decided to invest in Solar D, the superior player in the market.

“The new board members and investors who have invested in our company are not directly involved in the energy sector. This tells us that they see growth in renewables and recognize Solar D’s strength to become a leader in the industry.”

“One of the factors that can accelerate the solar energy transition is decentralization to the users. The objective is to let them experience ‘generating and using energy independently’. This is done through being a certified installer of Tesla Powerwall. Our goal is for the Thai people to experience ‘energy independence’ themselves.

“Solar D Corporation was established in 2013 at a time when decentralization was already a global trend, and in fact a megatrend for all industries and businesses. It was also around that time that Tesla launched Tesla Powerwall, a home power management system that helps in electricity generation and storage and is known for its efficiency. Solar D did not hesitate to contact Tesla and became the only official installer for the Tesla Powerwall due to our shared vision,” recalled Mr. Sumrit of becoming Tesla’s certified installer.

“Tesla Powerwall is a product under Tesla’s Energy Unit, the installation of which inside the home  requires a team of engineers and experts. Tesla was thus looking for a local expert who was experienced, had high standards, and understood the solar energy business to support the installation. Our innovations and the fact that we place great importance on the customer experience just like Tesla, makes Solar D a good fit. This is why Tesla decided to work with Solar D and has certified the company as its official installer since 2022,” added Mr. Sumrit.

Tesla Powerwall is a smart solution which uses AC coupling in an all-in single unit model. The version includes a power inverter or an integrated solar inverter which makes installation with the electric system network easy. It also supports wireless software update with a storage capacity up to 14 kilowatt-hours. This is enough to run a 24,000 BTU AC for 10 hours or even continuously if connected with a solar rooftop.

In addition to breathtaking functionality, Tesla Powerwall is beautifully designed, modern and minimalist. Both Solar D and Tesla are in full agreement that energy products are no longer outdated but can be lifestyle items which can be used to decorate or install at home with much pride.

To unveil and showcase the beautifully modern and minimalist designed Tesla Powerwall, Solar D Gallery has now opened on 4^th floor of Central Embassy in Bangkok. Solar D has collaborated with VaSLab Architecture, led by Mr. Vasu Virajsil, a well-known Thai architect who has won various international awards; Ms. Siriporn Dansakun, an architect and installation artist and professor at the Architecture Faculty of Silpakorn University; Ms. Janpen Koonkaew and the Decide Kit Team; and Graphic Motion Studio and Projection Mapping to co-design Solar D Gallery. This is the first time that the story of energy, which is difficult, complex and limited to certain groups of people, has been digested and reinterpreted as an art piece shown at a gallery inspired by the concept of energy independence and as a means to communicate the message to the public as widely as possible while inviting all to join in further interpretation. The gallery will serve as a venue to proclaim the vision and showcase products of Solar D and its partners while allowing all to experience “energy independence” in concrete formats.

Since its launch in April 2022, which was warmly received by Thai clients who are interested in “energy independence”, Tesla Powerwall is now widely available in Thailand.  One of the clients and users of Tesla Powerwall is Mr. Prasert Oeakamolsuko, the owner of Where We Met cafe in Khao Yai. Mr. Prasert decided to buy Tesla Powerwall as it would solve the problem he was facing.

“In Khao Yai, power outages or blackouts occur quite often. This affects my business, Where We Met cafe, as we had to switch to a generator. The problem is that it is very loud and has an oily smell, which our customers would not be happy about. However, after installing Tesla Powerwall, we did not have to worry at all as we now have a power storage system that is very stable and secure. Nowadays, when the lights go out, we can continue whatever we are doing without even noticing that something is wrong,” Mr. Prasert said.

Tesla Powerwall continues to reassure users both within the home and in the industrial sector of the power of electricity. That said, its potential has yet to fully realized, Take Australia and the US state of California, for example. Grid operators have cooperated with households which install Tesla Powerwall to bring the stored electricity for use in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). VPP is a cloud-based distributed power plant that aggregates the capacities of heterogeneous distributed energy resources (DER), instead of a few power plants, for the purposes of enhancing power generation and opening up opportunities for households to have a back-up system during critical times. Solar D has contributed to drive the setting up of the VPP in Thailand through Tesla Powerwall.
