AS!N ASPIRATION EXHIBITION 3 AUG ’23 – 3 SEP ’23 AT CENTRAL: THE ORIGINAL STORE
Ong-Ekarat Nakanukroh, also known as AS!N, began communicating with people through his mural paintings about ten years ago. When his journey to becoming a graphic designer came to an end, he reflected on his childhood, when all he wanted to do was to draw and to share his thoughts with the society and people around him. He decided to create mural art and started to produce a number of art pieces, participate in street art, and organize group exhibitions with Thai and international artists before mounting his first solo show at the Midnight Gallery. He held another solo exhibition in 2017 after accepting an invitation from a German spectator to participate in the 48th Stunden Art 2018 Festival in Berlin. His solo exhibition took place in a gallery in Nagoya, Japan in 2019 and he has continued to develop and display his works to the public.
AS!N’s latest solo exhibition, ASPIRATION, aims to inspire optimism and positive thinking by giving his viewers the ability to imagine their futures being filled with happiness. Through his expertise, he displays 17 brightly colored and unique graffiti works featuring his signature ‘chicken’ character.
AS!N has been exhibiting works that reflect the stories of society for a long time highlighting contemporary issues that he feels need to be resolved, including environmental problems and social issues such as inequity. For this exhibition, AS!N has changed his perspective from originally wanting to call for change to instead creating what we want to happen by making the change ourselves.
