– Partnering with Krabi City to drive Sustainable & Mindful Tourism and address the marine waste crisis, contributing to a sustainable economic future for Thailand.

– Reinforcing the concept of “For a Better Sea, For a Better Life” by transforming 3,500 pieces of plastic waste (totaling 360 kg) into an Eco-Art installation on the project’s construction hoarding.

– Aiming for a new level of global environmental standards, Central Krabi seeks to reduce its carbon footprint from the construction phase and become the first project to achieve ‘EDGE Certification’.

Central Pattana Plc., Thailand’s leading real estate developer for sustainability, under the vision of “Imagining better futures for all”, is committed to develop ‘Central Krabi’ to be the first complete mixed-use development in the heart of Krabi.  The company is committed to enhancing Krabi’s potential as a world-class destination renowned for its natural beauty.

Committed to environmental responsibility, Central Pattana raises awareness of marine waste, collaborating with Krabi Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Krabi Office), the ocean waste management organization ‘OCYCO’, and a local artist.  The company has created the Eco-Art project, an artistic installation on the project’s construction hoarding. This artwork portrays endangered marine species threatened by ocean waste, aiming to foster awareness and promote Sustainable & Mindful Tourism. This initiative reaffirms Central Pattana’s commitment to sustainability, partnering with Krabi Province to protect nature.

The Eco-Art Hoarding at Central Krabi’s project site is crafted from over 3,500 pieces of marine plastic waste, weighing more than 360 kilograms. Materials such as PET bottles, HDPE, PP, bottle caps, plastic bags, ropes, and fishing nets have been repurposed to create artwork depicting endangered marine species found in Krabi’s waters, including the Bryde’s whale, whale shark, and leatherback turtle.

To ensure sustainability, no additional paint was used—each plastic piece was carefully selected to match the natural colors of the marine animals, making it easier to upcycle once the project is completed. This initiative reflects a deep commitment to preserving Krabi’s marine environment and enhancing lives, as conveyed through the message “For a Better Sea, For a Better Life” displayed on the artwork. The project serves as an inspiration for environmental conservation and promotes sustainable tourism while reinforcing Central Pattana’s dedication to sustainability in every stage of development.

Mr. Angkura Siladhewakul, Governor of Krabi Province, spoke about Krabi’s potential, stating: “Krabi has received global recognition as one of the world’s most welcoming destinations, thanks to its breathtaking natural beauty and the warm hospitality of its people. What truly sets Krabi apart is our commitment to preserving the delicate balance between nature and local culture. That is why we actively promote environmentally conscious tourism and remain dedicated to developing sustainable travel experiences.”

Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Pattana, spoke about the launch of Central Krabi and the collaboration on the art installation: “We want to be a voice advocating for sustainability and mindful travel, encouraging both locals and visitors to be more conscious of their impact. Our goal is to help strengthen Krabi’s ecosystem and drive sustainable economic growth for Thailand, ensuring Better Futures for future generations. The Eco-Art Hoarding is a statement of our commitment—created from over 3,500 pieces of recycled marine plastic waste, weighing more than 360 kilograms, carefully arranged into an artistic display on the project’s construction fence at Central Krabi. This initiative raises awareness and serves as a declaration that we stand alongside Krabi in preserving the environment. For a Better Sea, For a Better Life.”

Ms. Soraya Homchuen, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (Krabi Office), spoke about the approach to promoting eco-friendly tourism: “Showcasing the Eco-Art Hoarding at Central Krabi is a creative way to transform marine waste into beautiful sculptures. This initiative plays a crucial role in promoting sustainability in Krabi. However, the most important factor is collaboration among all sectors, as this effort serves as both a symbol and the key to driving sustainable development for the province.”

Ms. Tanapakarot Tiawpradit, CEO of OCYCO, a brand dedicated to marine waste management in Krabi, stated: “We are committed to a comprehensive approach to marine waste management to restore balance to marine life, aquatic ecosystems, and coastal communities in a sustainable way. If plastic waste found in the ocean and along the shore is left unmanaged, it eventually breaks down into microplastics, causing pollution and posing serious risks to marine ecosystems, wildlife, and even local communities. Our mission is to reduce marine waste by transforming recyclable plastics into upcycled products, adding value while fostering a sustainable environmental care cycle.”

Mr. Narong Sanjohn, the artist behind the Eco-Art Hoarding, shared his intentions for the project: “Personally, I don’t expect much—just that even 1% of people become more aware and take action to prevent waste from reaching the ocean. Sea turtles, for example, suffer directly from mistaking plastic bags for jellyfish, which get stuck in their stomachs and lead to their death. Whale sharks and Bryde’s whales have also lost their lives due to entanglement in fishing nets. My hope is for endangered marine species in Krabi to continue thriving, so that future generations will still have the chance to see them in the wild.”

The Central Krabi project is set to launch in October 2025, with a total investment of 4.5 billion THB across 114 rai of land. The project aims to reduce its carbon footprint from the construction phase to achieve EDGE Certification. Designed under the concept of “Fully-Integrated with Nature”, the development blends seamlessly with Krabi’s natural beauty, featuring a semi-outdoor layout and a panoramic viewpoint.
