– Reinforces the success of the strategic collaboration between Central Pattana and ONNEX by SCG in elevating national green building standards

– Highlights six sustainable building management practices, positioning “Central Nakhon Sawan” as the first green shopping centre

Central Pattana plc, Thailand’s No.1 sustainable real estate leader under the vision “Imagining better futures for all,” integrating its Retail–Residence–Hotel–Office businesses, reaffirms its strong commitment to sustainability and progresses toward its NET Zero 2050 goal. The company announces the achievement of its “Central Nakhon Sawan” project, which has been awarded the TREES (Thai Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability) Gold certification by the Thai Green Building Institute, establishing it as the first model sustainable shopping centre in the country. This milestone reflects the success of Central Pattana’s strategic collaboration with its partner ONNEX by SCG, underscoring the organisation’s dedication to environmental stewardship and enhancing building users’ quality of life, while advancing long-term goals in carbon reduction and livable city development. The TREES standard is Thailand’s national green building rating system, assessing performance across energy efficiency, water management, indoor air quality, sustainable materials, and transportation systems designed to minimise environmental impact.

Ms. Naparat Sriwanvit, Chief Finance Officer and President Hotel and Office Businesses for Central Pattana Plc., stated: On the occasion of Central Nakhon Sawan receiving the TREES Gold certification as the first model sustainable shopping centre, this achievement marks an important milestone for Central Pattana. It is the result of our close collaboration with our partner, ONNEX by SCG, which has helped ensure clear standards in the building’s design and systems from the very beginning. Green building development is a key component of our Retail-Led Mixed-Use Development model, as it elevates the organisation, creates long-term value, reduces operational costs, and aligns with our roadmap toward Net Zero 2050. This project has been designed to optimise energy efficiency, water management, and the use of low-carbon materials, while prioritising high indoor air quality throughout the building.”

“Recently, Central Chanthaburi also received TREES Gold certification as the second project, and we plan to expand this achievement to additional developments in the future. Earning TREES certification reflects our commitment to sustainable urban development that can be scaled across future projects while strengthening confidence among all stakeholders. Central Pattana remains committed to creating positive social impact and ensuring long-term confidence among investors through instruments such as Green Bond, which support business development alongside responsible environmental stewardship — all with the goal of creating a better future for everyone.”

Mr. Dusit Chairat, Head of Smart Solution Business at ONNEX by SCG, said: “Elevating green building standards requires both the commitment of the project owner and the expertise of the consulting team. At ONNEX by SCG, we are dedicated to supporting Central Pattana’s Net Zero 2050 ambition, with a strong focus on the long-term quality of life for building users — a core principle behind the green building standards applied in the design of Central Nakhon Sawan. The success of this project reflects the strength of the collaboration between the Central Pattana and ONNEX by SCG teams in applying international standards to advance sustainable development for society, while preparing for increasingly complex challenges in the future.”

Central Pattana unveils six sustainable building management practices that enabled “Central Nakhon Sawan” to achieve the TREES Gold certification. Key green design and construction highlights include:

1. Green Area – Prioritizing the preservation of existing large trees, the project conducted a systematic relocation and replanting plan to conserve native species suited to the local environment and climate, ensuring long-term health and easy maintenance.

2. Energy – The project utilizes renewable energy accounting for 27% of total electricity costs compared with Thailand’s energy conservation building code. This is achieved through Solar Cell installations—Solar Roof and Solar Carport—along with high-performance glass and energy-efficient LED lighting.

3. Construction Materials – Environmentally friendly materials were selected, including Green Label or carbon-labelled products. More than 30% of construction materials (by value) are recyclable, supported by stringent dust-control measures during construction to minimize community impact.

4. Waste Management – A waste-management plan was implemented from the start, covering concrete pile heads, steel scraps, cement debris, and wood waste. Over 75% of construction waste (by weight) was reused or recovered.

5. Water Efficiency – Water-saving sanitary ware compliant with TREES standards was selected to ensure efficient water use from the outset.

6. Indoor Environment – Indoor air quality is enhanced through fresh-air supply in line with standards, while adhesives, sealants, paints, and coatings were chosen for low emissions and safety, ensuring a healthier environment for employees and visitors.

Central Pattana is accelerating its NET Zero 2050 roadmap and strengthening a Sustainable Business Ecosystem under its Retail-Led Mixed-Use Development strategy. The company continues to earn global recognition, including seven consecutive years on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices. As a pioneer in sustainable finance, it introduced Green Bonds and Sustainability-Linked Bonds and established Central Pattana Green Growth to drive measurable carbon reduction. It was also honored with the Prime Minister Awards: Innovation for Sustainability by NIA, reinforcing its role in developing ‘Centre of Life & Community’ destinations with integrated economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
