Journey through a series of ‘social-size’ abstract art that unveils the world of social media in 9:16 SOLO EXHIBITION BY talented up-and-coming artist BeCHANIDA from 9 November to 4 December, 2022 at Central: The Original Store
Here at Central: The Original Store, a new cultural centre located in the historical area of old Bangkok where Central Group’s first retail store was established on Charoen Krung Road, we invite you to join the 9:16 SOLO EXHIBITION BY BeCHANIDA.
9:16 uncovers life’s many moments and fragments of memories which people post and share on their social media, all reinterpreted in an abstract tale by the talented up-and-coming artist, Be – Chanida Aroonrungsi, who is debuting an exhibition of a brand-new style under the direction of curator Rvisra Chirathivat. The exhibition will be from 9 November to 4 December, 2022 at Central: The Original Store.
Be – Chanida Aroonrungsi, the artist, shared the concept behind her exhibition, “9:16 SOLO EXHIBITION BY BeCHANIDA conveys the multifaceted stories of online individuals living in this modern world, the era of social media. Ranging from stories from people you know and don’t know to images of food, scenery, and people. We use social media spaces for keeping good memories and immortalizing everyday stories through an image frame size of 90×160 cm, based on the aspect ratio of 9:16, which is the size of photos that are commonly used to post on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and IG Story. Everyone who visits the exhibition will discover expressionist paintings which have been created with the use of Mixed Media. The surface of the paintings have a high-quality Epoxy Resin coating, giving them a smoothness and shadow resembling that of a phone screen and filters. This time, an untreated, larger piece of art will be included in the SOLO EXHIBITION that conveys the unposted lives of individuals in the social media world. There are many more untold stories in each of our lives that are not presented in a post.”
“Regardless of who they are or what kind of picture it will be—beautiful, opulent, good or bad they seem. The things we see on a screen or on social media cannot be used to judge someone because telling some stories is simply a necessary aspect of existence, Because real life is complex with layers.”
Rvisra Chirathivat, the curator and the woman behind the exhibition, 9:16 SOLO EXHIBITION BY BeCHANIDA said that “Central: The Original Store is a new cultural center located in the historical area of old Bangkok where Central Group’s first retail store was established on Charoen Krung Road. It’s the art capital of the city and is visited by many travelers from around the world. As a curator who wants to create an art exhibition for artists to have space to showcase their work, I would like to invite everyone to come and see expressionist art from a range of famous artists. The art collectors who came to see the 9:16 SOLO EXHIBITION BY BeCHANIDA this time will also find a new style of exhibition that has never been exhibited anywhere before.”
