Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, President and CEO of Central Pattana Plc., said, “We recently announced our intention to create better futures for everyone with our role as the ‘place maker’ who develops places of the future with special care given to the quality of life, the society and the environment in all areas our projects are situated. The energy awards given to us for 11 of our buildings is a proof of our determination to become a Net Zero organization in 2050. It gives pride and morale boost to all of us at Central Pattana as we put great attention and care into every step of development of our projects.”
Mr. Chanavat Uahwatanasakul, Chief Development and Commercial Officer of Central Pattana, said, “We are determined to develop all types of projects in which we have the expertise. These include shopping centers, office buildings, residential projects and hotels. We intend for these to become the places for all generations where they can enjoy good quality of life. As we develop these projects, we pay special attention to the green aspect, energy use and well-being of the people.”
“As for energy saving, we have incorporated innovation and new design thinking to improve efficiency in energy use and raise the standard of our buildings. Some of such innovative moves are the installation of solar rooftops, the use of thermal insulation to reduce indoor temperature, building designs which allow maximum natural light, and the increase of green space in various areas of each project. In addition, the new semi-outdoor model for our shopping centers has seen great success in both Bangkok and the provinces,” he said.
In 2021, 10 Central shopping centers, namely centralwOrld, Central WestGate, Central Chaengwattana, Central Pinklao, Central Rama 2, Central Rama 3, Central Bangna, Central Rattanathibet, Central Ramindra, and Central EastVille, as well as the office building of centralwOrld Offices were assessed by the MEA based on its Management of Energy Achievement Index (MEA Index) and the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) criteria. The MEA examined the use of clean energy, solar rooftops, the switch to a high efficiency chiller system which reduces the global warming impact by chilling substances by 700 times, and the use of LED lighting throughout the shopping centers and LED motion sensors for fire exits and parking areas.
