AP (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd., a leading developer of residential properties and innovations, led by Sappasit Foongfaungchaveng, Director of Brand Strategy, recently funded a cause to save big trees as it worked with the government sector and the green alliance of BIG Trees and Thailand Urban Tree Network has built on the corporate mission to deliver good quality of life through Project Grow philosophy – a space development concept that aims to make every life grow together in a sustainable way. The firm held ‘AP Grow Day’ at Suan Rot Fai Park to spark awareness among the new generation so they join together to build good quality of life for everyone in society through every initiative taken by AP Thailand and its alliance. It was also the first time that the general public was allowed to study big trees in Suan Rot Fai Park at the height of 25 metres covering a study area of over 50 metres with professional arborists. At the event, ‘Pattie’ Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha, a famous actress representing the new generation was on a mission to return greenery back to the city by publicizing practical activities to reduce-reuse-recycle. The public also got to know earth-friendly innovations such as Bio Char, a naturally processed fertilizer using no chemicals, coir pot, a new alternative for tree planting and enjoyed music in the park by ‘Boy’ Trai Bhumiratna.

Mr. Sappasit Foongfaungchaveng, Director of Brand Strategy, AP (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd., said, “Bangkok is a densely populated city and the population is likely to increase further. It is unavoidable for the real estate industry to grow hand in hand with urban development. We asked ourselves as a developer how we can contribute to good quality of life for people in society.” “From our AP World vision where AP Thailand looks to build a world of good quality of life for everyone, we’ve come up with ‘Project Grow’. It is a philosophy used to draw a master plan for quality living hand in hand with space design inside a project, expansion of green areas, environment protection and building society of awareness to build society of good quality of life together.”

""

“We initiated the idea with something closest to us – the saving and keeping them with the community and the city of three 50-year-old rain trees that are around 20 metres tall on the site of Rhythm Ekkamai Estate. Today, the three old trees have started to spring new branches. And in holding AP Grow Day, we received cooperation from BIG Trees and Thailand Urban Tree Network to raise awareness among the new generation about every initiative taken by AP Thailand and its alliance. It was born out of our intention to build quality society and to share knowledge on earth-friendly innovations such as Bio Char, a naturally processed fertilizer with no chemicals, coir pot as a new alternative for tree planting or air filter plant, among others.”

AP Thailand also plans to broaden Project Grow in collaboration with BIG Trees and Thailand Urban Tree Network. For example, it has designed a special course on tree management in residential projects starting from selection of strains, tree illness observation and treatment to share the right knowledge on trees with employees of AP and the general public via AP Academy or reduce-reuse-recycle awareness activities.

Mrs. Oraya Sutabutr, founder of BIG Trees, a group of big-tree conservers, who has more than seven years saving trees, said, “We saw a decline in the number of trees that are replaced by buildings and condominiums in urban areas. So we decided to join together to do something to save the trees and received cooperation from government agencies. The challenge is how to change the public’s opinion that big cities can be with nature. It’s not a zero sum game. For today’s event, visitors will get a simple guide to taking care of trees, the right way to plant trees and prepare soil and how to make Bio Char, which is an earth-friendly innovation. We are very pleased that a leader in residential development like AP Thailand sees the importance of green areas and sustainable conservation of the environment that led to the pilot activity of AP Grow Day.”

‘Pattie’ Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha, a famous actress representing the new generation, said, “I’m very pleased to be a part of Project Grow by AP Thailand and to see the power of the new generation sharing the same goal of ensuring good quality of life for society. We can make good environment and quality of life happen with our hands. But everybody needs to change their thinking that the duty to save trees does not belong to the government sector or BIG Trees alone, but it’s the duty of us all to take part in the effort starting with trees at our home. And we have to learn how to take care of trees the right way and to instill in everyone’s heart that we need to save trees. Today, I got to learn to observe tree illness and the right way to prune. I have learned earth-friendly innovations. From now on, if anyone I know has problems with trees, I will be able to give them advice and to pass on the knowledge gained today. I believe that cutting trees or letting them die whether out of ignorance may not be a good thing for our planet in the future. I would like to ask everyone to be aware of the importance of tree saving. You can have good quality of life with our hands.”
