Embracing the global megatrend of the Longevity Economy, with three strategies to establish Longevity Ecosystem
Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer for Central Pattana plc, said, “The World Economic Forum’s definition of longevity is not limited to just ‘lifespan’ but the creation of an ecosystem that enables people to have a health span – a period of good health, a good social life and a high quality of life at every stage of life.
Responding to growing consumer demand for lifestyle destinations that support wellness, relaxation, quality time with loved ones, and a closer connection with nature, Central Pattana invested THB 4.5 billion to develop Central Northville on a 59-rai site. Designed around Biophilic Design, the project integrates abundant greenery and nature into everyday living to create Thailand’s First Longevity Destination. Guided by the belief that the shopping centre of the future should enhance quality of life, Central Northville is designed to bring happiness to everyday life while growing sustainably alongside people, communities, and the city.
Longevity Ecosystem with three key drivers:
1. Longevity Wellness: health is the new wealth
According to The 1 Insight, consumers are increasingly investing in preventive health, longevity, and performance, viewing wellness as a long-term investment. This trend is driving significant growth in wellness spending, with Thailand’s health and wellness market ranking among the fastest-growing globally.
2. Longevity Living: ‘Quality Time is the New Luxury’
Designed as a mixed-use destination, Central Northville brings together retail, future residential developments, wellness, green spaces, and community facilities in one connected ecosystem. Its strategic location and seamless accessibility help reduce travel time and create more opportunities for quality time and everyday well-being.
3. Longevity Community: Social Connection is the New Wellbeing
Recognizing social connection as a key pillar of healthy and longer lives, Central Northville is designed to foster meaningful interactions through inclusive public spaces and year-round community engagement, including run clubs, pet communities, art exhibitions, and signature events for people of all generations.
Building on Design for Longevity, meeting three concepts
Ms. Juthatham Chirathivat, Head of Business & Design Development, Central Pattana plc, said: “We designed Central Northville with the goal of enhancing both healthspan and lifespan, because we believe that a better quality of life is shaped by meaningful everyday experiences. Every detail has therefore been thoughtfully designed around three key principles:
1. ‘Architect’ for Longevity – Architecture has the power to shape emotions from the very first impression. Central Northville redefines the conventional shopping centre with its Urban Oasis façade, seamlessly blending nature, water, light, and contemporary urban design. Integrated with lush greenery, the façade creates an immediate connection with nature, allowing visitors to feel relaxed, escape the bustle of city life, and begin every visit with a sense of calm and quality time.
2. Biophilic Philosophu – Central Northville is designed around the principles of Biophilic Design, bringing nature into everyday life to create Thailand’s First Outdoor-Inspired Indoor Shopping Centre. The project is designed to promote holistic well-being by responding to the growing demand for active lifestyles with a comprehensive sports destination featuring a jogging track, multi-sport activities, and a carefully curated mix of health-focused brands and key anchors. Every space is also thoughtfully designed to encourage quality time with oneself, family, and loved ones, creating meaningful everyday experiences through shared moments.
The Biophilic Design concept engages all five senses-touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste-to strengthen the connection between people and nature. A key highlight is the exclusive sound healing experience created by renowned soundscape designer Jay Montonn Jira, who composed nature-inspired soundscapes that create a calming atmosphere and encourage visitors to relax and linger longer.
Central Northville is designed to make every journey through the space an experience, featuring distinctive landmarks and sculptures that serve as destinations, gathering spots, and social spaces. Highlights include The Clouds waterfall sculpture, The Hill relaxation area, Tree Grove green space, Stone Atrium event venue, Playville active lifestyle zone, and PetVille for pet lovers.
Guided by the belief that great places are where people choose to stay, connect, and create memories, the project also fosters a Longevity Community by encouraging social connection while reducing daily friction. Bringing together FoodVille, dining, cafés, supermarket, ready-to-eat offerings, Sport Fashion, Health & Wellness, fitness facilities, and Little Campus in one destination, Central Northville enables people of all generations to live well, stay active, and enjoy quality time together every day.
Looking ahead, Central Northville will expand its lifestyle ecosystem with the upcoming development of The Orchard, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027. The new extension will bring together fresh produce, a morning community destination, and home & living offerings in one place, further reinforcing Central Northville’s vision of becoming an everyday third place where people can spend time, relax, and enjoy a better quality of life every day.
